Steam Pro was founded in 2004 by an ambitious 19 year old Robert Torres. He quit his day job as a salesman, bought all the equipment needed to get started, borrowed his mothers car and was in business. He also attended every textile restoration seminar he could, sometimes attending the same seminars multiple times.
Within 5 years Steam Pro was arguably the most successful single truck carpet cleaning company in New York. Accolades included being the best-reviewed carpet cleaner in New York (Yelp), a celebrity clientele, and write-ups in multiple publications.
Today Steam Pro continues to obsess over delivering exceptional customer service. We’ve intentionally kept the company small and customer-focused. Over 90% of Steam Pro’s business comes from its existing clientele.

Our Rug Cleaning Process
Pre-inspection – We first test the fibers and dyes of your rug. We want to know exactly what we’re cleaning and provide a bespoke, tailor-made approach to getting the best possible results for your rug. Vacuum and Dusting – We will remove all of the dry soil from your rug by using a beater-bar vacuum and a rug beating machine. Pre-shampoo – Your entire rug will be immersed in a safe cleaning solution, which was chosen by our master textile technician. The cleaning agent is chosen based on the composition of your rug. Immersion Cleaning – Your rug will be then completely immersed in a bath. We only use horse hair brushes to clean your rug, providing the most gentle, yet effective clean. Spot and Stain Treatments – Paint, oil, grease, food or drink – we have the exact cleaning agents and knowledge to treat your stains for the best chance of removal. Fringe Cleaning – If your rug has fringes we use a special fringe whitening agent. Drying – Your rug is then put into a dry rug for two days. Repeat if necessary – We will repeat this process until we are satisfied with the final result.
