Rug Types
Rug classifications normally narrow down to three main categories; Persian and oriental rugs, handmade rugs, and machine-made rugs.
Generally, Persian rugs are handmade. Manufacturers call them hand-woven as they consider their rugs to be a work of art. These rugs come mainly from Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and to some extent India, Morocco, and Libya among other countries dotting the Middle East. Area Rugs
Handmade rugs are sourced from all over the world; they are made by a combination of hand-looming and special sewing machines.
Machine rugs are just that, made by machines.
Whatever the rug type, it needs experts to know and understand proper cleaning methods; one definitely does not want to take any chances with these valuable rugs.
How Rugs are Cleaned
The most common cleaning method is the use of enzymes and detergents. The advantage here is an advanced science that goes into ensuring the detergents are safe for your rug and the environment. Another method is steam cleaning; it leaves the rug sanitized and feeling new. Some replace the steam cleaning process with a hot water treatment which has the same advantages as the steam treatment. There is yet another rug cleaning mode that applies traditional dry cleaning methods using gentle solvents to clean the rug. for example area rug cleaning
Conscientious Carpet Care technicians first pre-inspect the rug to identify all aspects of the rug and its construction, as well as any possible damage or concerns.
Once we have discussed the rug status with you and obtained your permission to proceed, we begin the cleaning process by thoroughly dusting your rug to remove all dry particulate soils using the Rug Badger system. We often remove literally pounds of dry soils, grit, and sand from our customer’s rugs. By first removing the dry soils we can proceed to deep clean the rugs without having to fight with soils that, once wet, will turn to “mud.”
We then pre-treat and pre-spot each rug by hand to make sure that we are using products correct and safe that have been matched with each individual rug. Rugs are then hand-washed or machine-washed as required and completely rinsed so that they are clean and fresh. All fringes are hand-washed and combed prior to drying and then touched up if necessary once the rug has dried thoroughly. No bleach is used as it may damage natural fibers. area-rug-cleaned Our drying tower is then used to hang the rugs up to quickly and safely dry them under air moving and dehumidification equipment. Quick-drying is a major component of cleaning area rugs and receiving superior results. Once the rugs are dry, they are conditioned, vacuumed, and receive a final inspection to insure they have a nice “hand” prior to rolling or folding them for customer pick up or delivery to the home.
